leadership development camp

The 2003 Red Cross Leadership Development Camp (LDC) is is shaping up to be a real blast! All Central Maryland students entering grades 10-11 next year, who are highly motivated and ready to make a difference in their community are encouraged to apply. The 30 camp delegates will be selected within the next few weeks, after all applications are reviewed and interviews are completed.

All LDC delegates will receive Red Cross training in CPR and First Aid, Crime Avoidance, International Humanitarian Law, and Disaster Services. They will also come away with enhanced public speaking and leadership skills, as well as the proficiency to institute successful service-learning projects. In addition, campers will enjoy using the many sport facilities, going on hikes, creating skits, and just relaxing by the campfire.

The camp facility at Skycroft Conference Center offers air-conditioned rooms, an outdoor pool, hiking trails, and an indoor gym all in a natural setting. Young men and women entering 10th or 11th grade in the fall are encouraged to apply. The cost per student is $185 which includes lodging, transportation, and all meals and materials.
