9/8/2010 - RED CROSS RESPONDS TO TWO MAJOR FIRES IN BALTIMORE

Baltimore--The American Red Cross of Central Maryland is currently assisting the victims of two massive fires in the Baltimore area: a multi-unit fire on North Calhoun and North Carey (21217); and a single unit on the 3400 block of Spellman Road (21225).

Red Cross volunteers and staff are assisting six families from the North Calhoun street fire, and a family of seven who were victims of the Spellman Road fire; providing shelter, food, clothing and other vital necessities as necessary.

AMERICAN RED CROSS RESPONDS TO 16 UNIT APARTMENT FIRE AT 9100 BLOCK BLUES ALLEY 

(Baltimore) - The American Red Cross of Central Maryland dispatched a team of disaster response volunteers to a 16-unit apartment fire this morning that broke out at 5 a.m. and destroyed the homes of at least 12 families. Volunteers are assisting the affected families by providing food, clothing, shelter and other vital necessities. The Red Cross will also provide prescription replacement and mental health counseling if needed. We will continue to assist the victims of this fire until their immediate needs are met.

RED CROSS HELPING BOWLEYS QUARTERS RESIDENTS AFTER AM FIRE

(Baltimore)—American Red Cross volunteers are on the scene of an early morning fire that affected multiple families in an apartment complex on the 3700 block of White Pine Road in Bowleys Quarters. The Red Cross will provide food, clothing, emergency shelter and other assistance to the residents in need. Volunteers and caseworkers will continue to follow-up with those who are displaced.

5/5/2010 - Local Red Cross Volunteer Deploys to Mississippi to Aid Tornado Relief Efforts
(Baltimore) — The American Red Cross of Central Maryland is deploying a disaster nursing volunteer to assist those affected by the recent tornadoes that devastated much of Benton County, Mississippi. The Baltimore-based volunteer, Phillip Bovinder, has responded to dozens of disasters in Central Maryland with the Red Cross and is a trained ER nurse.
