*       Two planes carrying Red Cross humanitarian assistance are due to land this afternoon in Port-au-Prince, if they are not re-routed. The first one carries a field hospital and the second carries tarps, blankets, hygiene items, buckets, shelter supplies and kitchen sets.

Stein, Executive Vice President at PNC Wealth Management and an Anne Arundel County resident, was named the chair of the Tiffany Circle Society of Women Leaders a cadre of women who donate $10,000 annually to support local Red Cross efforts. DeKuyper, a Baltimore resident who is one of the nation’s preeminent authorities on nonprofit governance, will chair the Clara Barton Society—whose members each contribute $1,000 a year to the Red Cross.

(Baltimore)—When a child is hurt, a mother’s only desire is make the pain go away. But without proper training she cannot stop the bleeding, set a broken limb or clear an airway.  The Red Cross of Central Maryland will be conducting a child and infant CPR and first aid training for the CASA de Maryland women’s group on Saturday, May 16 from 9:00 A.M. – 6:00 P.M. The training is made possible thanks to a generous grant from Nationwide Insurance.

<![CDATA[RED CROSS of CENTRAL MARYLAND RE-ELECTS BOARD OFFICERS AND NEW MEMBER]]> (Baltimore, MD)—At its June 16th annual meeting, the American Red Cross of Central Maryland Board of Directors unanimously re-elected its board officers. Peter Rosenwald, chair; Steven Schuh, vice chair; Mark Banta, secretary; and Daniel Whelan treasurer were all elected in 2008 and will each maintain their current leadership positions for another term (photos attached).

William F. Casey, vice president, Government Affairs at Carefirst BlueCross BlueShield was also elected to a three year term on the Red Cross board.

Two families displaced by the fire are receiving Red Cross assistance, including shelter, food, clothing and emotional support. Volunteers will provide temporary housing and ensure the families’ immediate needs are met. Caseworkers will follow-up with the families until they are back on their feet. ]]>
