Minutes for Anne Arundel County Minutes from the January 10, 2001 Meeting. The meeting opened at 6:30 pm following snacks and socializing. Attendees: Ken Smallwood, Branda Daggett, Tom Lehman, Robert Loughhead, Ann Ellis, Merrell Hawkins, Pat Miller, Chuck Miller, Hartley Holte, Sue Recker, Mark O'Neil, Vicky O'Neil, Bill Collins, Mike Young, Jim Hurd, Lerlie Wilson, Mary Ann Prucnal, Michael Prucnal, Jay Siegert, Tom Gambrill, Jennider Hozik, Sam Thompson, Gary Doyle. 1. Volunteer of the Month Award. The first order of business was to present Tom Lehman the December 2000 Volunteer of the Month award. Ken Smallwood presented the award to Tom while Branda Daggett and Tom's wife Janet looked on. Tom was given an inscribed mug, letter, and boutonniere. Ken read the letter accompanying the award. It was a full page of laudatory statements about Tom including: "Tom is always aware of what clients' needs are. Wherever he goes, he talks about Red Cross. When asked to serve Red Cross, he never says "No"." Pictures were taken of Tom with all attendees included. 2. Personal Information Forms. Tom distributed personalized forms to each person present listing their current personal information, authority, availability and courses completed. He asked that everyone provide updates to courses completed to Leslie Fries in the Baltimore office. Her number is 410-764-7000 ext. 5040. Also provide updates to personal data and availability to the Ft. Meade office. The address is American Red Cross, 4408 Llewellyn Ave, Ft. Meade, MD 20755. 3. Equipment Issue. Criteria for equipment issue to volunteers was determined by the Chapter Directors. Pat Miller distributed equipment to those personnel qualifying. If you were not present and need equipment issued, here's the criteria: Category A equipment: Polo shirt, hard hat, Red Cross vest, baseball cap, photo ID. You must complete Intro to Disaster Services, First Aid, CPR, and one additional course. 4. Vendor Requests. Revised lists of vendors who deal with us were provided to those with Disbursing Authority. Some vendors have requested Red Cross account numbers be placed on the DO as follows:
5. Training. Training schedules will be mailed to DAT members soon. The CPR Challenge for those with expiring CPR certification is scheduled for Saturday, February 3 at Ft. Meade. For the CPR Challenge, there will be no discussion or coaching prior to the member demonstrating the CPR technique for re-certification, so review prior to arrival. The next CPR training is Tuesday and Thursday evenings, February 20 & 22 in Baltimore 6:00 - 10:00 pm. The next Saturday training is May 12 with CPR and First Aid from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm in Baltimore. 6. Member Birthday. The team surprised Pat Miller with a chocolate cake in recognition of her birthday. She only got one piece after sharing it with all the rest of us. The meeting adjourned at 8:00 pm. The next meeting will be Wednesday, February 14, 2001 at the Ft. Meade office. Snacks and socializing begins at 6:00 pm, meeting begins at 6:30 pm. Respectfully submitted, |
