Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Assistant Professor for our Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program in Boise, Idaho. This part-time, on-campus position involves providing classroom, lab, and clinical instruction to nursing students while fostering a supportive learning environment that promotes academic and professional success.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in nursing education, a commitment to student development, and the ability to teach and mentor future nurses effectively. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced nurse educator or a practicing RN with teaching experience to contribute to the next generation of nursing professionals.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide instruction in nursing courses, including classroom, lab, and clinical settings, following the approved course outlines.

  • Facilitate student learning, evaluate student performance, and ensure achievement of course objectives.

  • Supervise, debrief, and assess students in clinical and simulated learning environments.

  • Maintain accurate attendance and grade records, submitting all required documentation in accordance with program policies.

  • Collaborate with other faculty in preparing, administering, and grading course examinations and evaluations.

  • Participate in orientation and mentoring of new faculty, faculty meetings, and program committees.

  • Engage in continuous professional development and maintain current knowledge of nursing practices and education techniques.

  • Advise students and provide academic support to promote success and retention.

  • Ensure classrooms, labs, and clinical sites are organized, safe, and conducive to learning.

  • Utilize teaching methods and technologies that support adult learning and interactive engagement.

  • Assist with program planning, data collection, and reports as required by academic leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse with a current, unencumbered license in the state of Idaho.

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) required, or BSN with prior teaching experience and currently enrolled in an MSN program.

  • Meets all faculty qualifications as outlined by the state Board of Nursing.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of current nursing practice, clinical instruction, and adult learning principles.

  • Strong communication and mentoring skills.

  • Experience with instructional technology and Microsoft Office applications.

  • At least one year of experience in nursing education preferred.
