Billing Specialist – Nonprofit Organization

Portland, Maine | Hybrid

$23.00 - $25.00 per hour

Monday - Friday Schedule

Are you an experienced billing professional looking for a meaningful career with a mission-driven nonprofit? We are seeking a Billing Specialist to join our team! This role offers hybrid flexibility , allowing for both in-office collaboration and remote work.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, process, and submit billings for the entire agency while ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Assist in following up on past-due accounts and resolving denied payments.
• Manage MaineCare Authorization Imports.
• Research and resolve credit balances as needed.
• Support accounts receivable (A/R) functions, including year-end audits, internal quality assurance reviews, and audits by third-party funding agencies.
  
  

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Five or more years of experience in clinical/medical billing and collections is required.
• At least two years of experience with Medicare, MaineCare, and other third-party payers is strongly preferred.
• Strong ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a team-oriented mindset.
• Proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Word, and Accounts Receivable financial software required.
