The California State Lottery (Lottery) is searching for an inspiring Chief of Southern District Sales to oversee our five southern district offices (Chatsworth, Santa Fe Springs, Rancho Cucamonga, Costa Mesa, and San Diego) and grow a dynamic network of retailers! The primary goal of the district/field offices is to maximize Lottery revenue by facilitating the responsible sale of Lottery products, promotions, incentives, and provide general education/awareness to both retailers and consumers. The Lottery’s mission is to provide supplemental funding for California’s public schools and colleges. To help meet our mission, we are looking for a district sales executive to drive sales revenue, foster strong partnerships, and deliver on innovative sales strategies that maximize Lottery success.

What You'll Do:
Under the general direction of the Assistant Deputy Director of Sales, the Chief, Southern District Sales (CEA A) is responsible for managing a staff of approximately 170 sales representatives and support positions through Lottery Sales Managers located within the Chatsworth, Costa Mesa, Rancho Cucamonga, San Diego, and Santa Fe Springs District Offices. These offices are part of a statewide sales team composed of nine (9) district offices that provide service to a network of over 23,000 retailers to generate combined annual revenues exceeding $9 billion. The primary goal of the district sales teams is to maximize Lottery revenue by facilitating the responsible sale of Lottery products, promotions, incentives, and to provide general education/awareness to both retailers and consumers. This position works in conjunction with the Chief, Northern District Sales and requires direct engagement with managers, supervisors, staff, retailers, and/or retailer groups. Frequent travel to assigned district offices and occasional travel to Lottery Headquarters in Sacramento.

This position can be headquartered in one of the following Southern District Offices (Chatsworth, Costa Mesa, Rancho Cucamonga, or Santa Fe Springs) and is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule. Employees must be able to report to their assigned headquarters office as assigned. Travel expense to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee. Eligibility for telework requires the employee to reside in California per California Government Code Section 14200 which states: “telecommuting means the partial or total substitution of computers or telecommunication technologies, or both, for the commute to work by employees residing in California."
