Overview Cat Digital/Cat Technology - Software Engineer role at Caterpillar Inc. We are seeking enthusiastic individuals to join Caterpillar’s software engineering field, with opportunities for recent graduates or professionals pivoting into a new career. Cat Digital focuses on bringing digital capabilities to Caterpillar’s platforms, including global marketing & brand, connectivity, enterprise data, analytics and AI, and other digital solutions. Cat Technology collaborates across the enterprise on technologies including autonomy and automation to enhance site safety, productivity and efficiency. What You Will Do As a Software Engineering Professional, you will help design, develop, and deploy Caterpillar’s digital platform. You will manage your own work assignments and coordinate with team members to ensure successful project completion. You will contribute to building a world-class platform that supports a diverse range of digital applications, including mobile, web, and cloud systems. Technologies commonly used include Java, JavaScript, SpringBoot, React, NextJS, TypeScript, API authorization, AWS/Azure. Responsibilities Design, develop, and deploy digital platform components Collaborate with team members across projects to deliver on time Develop mobile, web, and cloud-based solutions Support digital applications including product development, eCommerce, and digital marketing Integrate and apply technologies such as Java, JavaScript, SpringBoot, React, NextJS, TypeScript, API authorization, AWS/Azure What You Will Have – Skills And Experiences Decision Making and Critical Thinking: analyze situations and make informed decisions Effective Communications: convey and interpret ideas and information Software Development: use development tools to produce software that meets requirements Software Development Life Cycle: apply structured methodologies for delivering software Software Integration Engineering: design and maintain interfaces across platforms Software Product Design/Architecture: translate market requirements into design Software Product Technical Knowledge: design and integrate technical aspects of software products Software Product Testing: design and execute testing strategies to ensure quality Top Candidates May Have Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related field (degree by start date) 0-2 years of relevant experience (internships or academic projects are a plus) Minimum GPA 3.0/4.0 (no rounding) Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team Additional Information Ideal for those building foundational skills in software engineering Locations typically Chicago and Peoria, Illinois.
