Dental Office Receptionist Location Stamford, CT :

Front Desk Receptionist Position Summary:

Hoyt Street Dental is seeking a friendly, organized, and proactive Front Desk Receptionist to join our team. As the first point of contact for patients, you will play a critical role in creating a welcoming and professional environment. This position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities:Patient Interaction:

  • Greet patients warmly in person and over the phone with a professional and courteous demeanor
  • Check patients in and out for appointments using dental practice management software Oryx
  • Assist patients with completing forms and ensure all necessary documentation is obtained before treatment
  • Answer incoming calls, respond to inquiries, take messages, and schedule appointments
  • Confirm upcoming appointments and follow up on missed or canceled visits

Scheduling & Coordination:

  • Manage the daily appointment schedule to maximize provider efficiency and minimize wait times
  • Coordinate patient flow and inform clinical staff of patient arrivals or delays
  • Reschedule appointments as needed and maintain recall and re-care systems

Billing & Insurance:

  • Collect and record patient co-pays and balances at the time of service
  • Accurately enter and update insurance information and verify coverage
  • Submit pre-authorizations and insurance claims as needed
  • Provide basic explanation of patient balances and insurance estimates

Administrative Support:

  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the reception area
  • Open and close the office as needed, including balancing the deposit slips with card and check/cash payments scanning documents to patient charts
  • Prepare daily reports and assist with end-of-day reconciliation
  • Maintain office supplies and inventory related to front desk operations
  • Assist with office correspondence, mail, and other administrative tasks

Compliance & Confidentiality:

  • Adhere to HIPAA regulations and ensure patient information is kept confidential
  • Follow all office policies and procedures, including infection control protocols and OSHA guidelines

Qualifications:Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in a front desk, receptionist, or customer service role
  • Proficiency in using a computer, multi-line phone system, and Google programs (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
  • Personal laptop and iphone

Preferred:

  • 1+ years of experience in a dental or healthcare setting
  • Familiarity with dental insurance plans and terminology
  • Experience with dental software systems
  • Bilingual (Spanish or another language) is a plus
