Adair-Casey Elementary is seeking candidates for an Elementary Art Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year!

The Elementary Art Teacher is responsible for providing an engaging and creative art education program for students in elementary school (grades K-6). This position involves teaching foundational art concepts, techniques, and skills in a positive, supportive, and nurturing environment. The teacher will inspire students' creativity, foster their love for art, and help them explore different art forms while developing their skills and artistic expression.

Key Responsibilities:

• Curriculum Development & Instruction:

  • Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that teach students fundamental principles of art, including color theory, line, shape, texture, space, and form.

  • Incorporate a variety of media (paint, clay, markers, pencils, etc.) and techniques (drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, etc.) to encourage creativity and skill development.

  • Promote art history knowledge and cultural awareness through lessons on various artists, art movements, and traditions.

  • Adapt instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with different learning styles and abilities.

  • Provide opportunities for hands-on art projects that align with school-wide objectives and integrate other subject areas.

• Classroom Management:

  • Maintain an organized, safe, and stimulating classroom environment conducive to learning.

  • Encourage respect, collaboration, and responsibility among students during activities.

  • Foster positive student behavior, ensuring that all students have a fair and equal opportunity to engage in lessons and projects.

• Assessment & Feedback:

  • Monitor and assess student progress, offering constructive feedback and guidance on their artistic development.

  • Provide individual and group critiques in a positive and encouraging manner.

  • Maintain records of student work and achievements.

• Collaboration & Communication:

  • Collaborate with fellow teachers and school staff to integrate art across the curriculum and school events.

  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to share students’ progress, upcoming projects, and art-related activities.

  • Participate in school events and exhibitions, showcasing student artwork for the school community.

• Professional Development:

  • Stay updated on current trends in art education, new techniques, and best practices.

  • Attend staff meetings, workshops, and professional development opportunities to continuously improve teaching skills.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field (required).

• State certification or licensure as an Art Teacher (required).

• Previous experience teaching art at the elementary level (preferred).

• Strong understanding of art techniques, principles, and child development.

• Passion for working with children and fostering creativity.

• Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
