Job Description
The successful candidate for the Forklift position is expected to work safely with a strong attention to detail. Work areas of responsibility include but are not limited to; production areas, shipping and receiving and warehouse. This must be achieved by having respect for all co-workers. This position is not micro-managed so the successful candidate must be mature with the ability to work independently. Prior forklift experience (preferably in the food industry) is necessary.
Company Description•\tOperates and observes packaging equipment to ensure food safety, product quality and conformity meeting customer standards and specifications.
•\tActively participates in startup, troubleshooting, adjustment, stop/reset and shutdown of line equipment.
•\tClears jams and reports malfunctions to Supervisor as necessary.
•\tPerforms changeovers, completes line clears and accurately sets up next item's packaging and coding.
•\tApplies appropriate labels to secondary packages and completed finished goods pallets.
•\tReports out of standard/specification results to the Quality Department and Supervisor.
•\tReports unsafe conditions or other compliance issues to the Supervisor.
•\tMaintains accurate and detailed work log (including work orders) and inventory records.
•\tMonitors and reviews inventory and production levels to achieve the most efficient operating conditions.
•\tMaintains assigned work area and production environment in clean orderly condition - completes environmental cleaning requirements as necessary.
•\tActively participates in shift exchanges and work team meetings.
•\tAssist maintenance staff with troubleshooting and repairs.
•\tWork with respect for the company and the company property (be professional). Understand the Good Manufacturing Practices.
•\tLoad and unload items from machines, pallets and totes.
•\tBasic understanding of weights and measure.
•\tAvailable for overtime including weekends when necessary.
•\tContinuous standing in one location for long periods.
•\tMany jobs have fixed workstation locations and are conveyor line paced.
•\tWalking long distances sometimes on uneven and slippery surfaces.
•\tClimbing or moving on steps, walkways, and platforms.
