Healthcare Data Analyst
Summary
Petersburg Medical Center is seeking a part time Health Data Analyst to join our Information Technology team. The role is essential in supporting the hospital's data-driven decision-making processes. The Healthcare Data Analyst will collect, analyze, and report on clinical, financial, and operational data to improve patient outcomes, enhance efficiency, and ensure regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with clinical and administrative departments to understand data needs and deliver actional insights.
Extract, clean, and analyze data from electronic health records (EHR), financial systems, and other sources.
Design and generate reports, dashboards, and visualizations to support decision-making and performance improvement.
Monitor data quality and ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity of datasets.
Assist with data submission for regulatory reporting and compliance requirements (e.g. Medicare, Medicaid, UDS reports).
Identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improving patient care and operational performances.
Provide technical support and training to staff on data tools and reporting solutions.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field (Data Analytics, Healthcare Administration, Computer Science, or equivalent).
Experience in data analysis, preferably in a healthcare setting.
Proficiency in SQL, Excel, and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar).
Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems, particularly Cerner, Epic, Meditech is a plus.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Provide technical support and training to staff on data tools and reporting solutions.
Must be able to pass a State of Alaska background check and a drug screen (including Marijuana).
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of healthcare data standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, HEDIS, UDS).
Experience with healthcare reporting and data extraction tools.
Understanding of quality improvement initiatives in clinical settings.
Working Conditions
Part time (15 - 20 hours per week) with flexible scheduling options.
Work to be performed onsite at PMC.
