Senior Cloud Infrastructure & DevOps Engineer (AWS/Terraform) – U.S. Citizens Only

Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid – 60% On-Site, 3 days/week)
Duration: 6 Months (Contract)

Project Overview:

Thales, a global leader in Identity and Biometric Solutions, is seeking a  Senior Cloud Infrastructure & DevOps Engineer (AWS/Terraform)to lead infrastructure deployment and automation within AWS environments. This role is open  only to U.S. Citizens due to federal security clearance requirements. The engineer will work on provisioning, configuring, and documenting secure and scalable cloud infrastructure using Terraform and GitLab CI/CD.

Key Responsibilities:

Infrastructure Deployment:

• Build and configure AWS infrastructure (VPCs, routing, subnets, DNS).

• Deploy and manage ALBs, NLBs, and EKS clusters using Terraform.

• Integrate infrastructure with CI/CD pipelines via GitLab.

Monitoring & Optimization:

• Implement Datadog dashboards for real-time monitoring and alerting.

• Identify and execute cloud cost optimization strategies.

Operational Excellence:

• Create system operational playbooks and troubleshooting documentation.

• Maintain detailed infrastructure records including IAM roles, KMS keys, and Active Directory group mappings.

Expected Deliverables:

• Fully deployed AWS infrastructure (VPCs, ALBs, NLBs, domain controllers).

• Maintenance and troubleshooting guides.

• Secure, resilient, and scalable cloud solutions tailored to AWS best practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Technical Skills:

• 6+ years of experience in AWS infrastructure design and deployment.

• Strong expertise in Terraform and GitLab CI/CD.

• Hands-on experience with ALBs, NLBs, FSx, EC2, EKS, and VPCs.

• Familiarity with Datadog for monitoring and alerting.

Systems & Security:

• Strong knowledge of networking, routing, and DNS within AWS.

• Experience with Active Directory and domain controller setup.

• U.S. Citizenship required for federal compliance (CFIUS clearance and background check).

Soft Skills:

• Excellent documentation and communication skills.

• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams in hybrid work environments.

Work Environment:

• On-site Location: Thales Premises – 9442 North Capital of Texas Hwy, Building II, Suite 400, Austin, TX 78759.

• Remote: Up to 40% remote (2 days/week).

• Provided by Thales: Workstation/laptop, access to AWS environments, Jira, Confluence, and GitLab.
