Project Overview:Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity, and we are looking for the talent that will help expand Poland’s nuclear base and build a strong and long-lasting energy future for generations to come
Job Summary:
This position will be responsible for providing hydraulic and hydrologic (H&H) engineering support to the project and executing specialized activities during the power plant licensing and engineering phases. This position has the technical responsibility of review and interpretation of nuclear licensing regulations and permitting requirements related to H&H analysis and design. Other main responsibilities include origination and/or checking of H&H calculations, preparation of licensing documents, preparation of reports, preparation of design documents such as specifications and design sketches, review of vendor submittals, etc. The ideal candidate will have experience in hydrologic analysis and hydraulic design of plant systems and structures and capable of developing nuclear licensing and design documents that incorporate H&H engineering design. The position will report to the H&H Lead on the project and will be required to coordinate with on- and off-project H&H engineers, project staff from other disciplines and functions in the development of licensing and design documents. In addition, it will be required that the candidate has excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) and embrace Bechtel’s diversity & inclusion, leadership, quality, and safety values. The position will be based in Reston, VA. Work may require short-term travel to project site and other locations.
This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership. #LI-SNH
