IT Specialist/ Help Desk

Position Summary

The IT Specialist will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing the technological infrastructure of the school, ensuring that all systems operate efficiently to support educational and administrative needs. This role includes technical support, network administration, hardware and software maintenance, as well as technology training for faculty and administrative staff.

Key Responsibilities

Technology Infrastructure Management

  1. Configure, maintain, and repair computers, laptops, servers, printers, and other technological equipment.
  2. Monitor and manage the school’s network, including servers, routers, switches, and access points.
  3. Implement cybersecurity measures to protect the network and sensitive data.

Technical Support

  1. Provide first- and second-level technical support to faculty, students, and administrative staff.
  2. Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to hardware, software, and connectivity.
  3. Document technical incidents and their solutions to improve support efficiency.

Software and Systems

  1. Administer operating systems, educational software, and school management tools.
  2. Perform regular software updates and patches to ensure security and functionality.
  3. Oversee the proper functioning of educational platforms like Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams, or other learning tools.

Training and Advising

  1. Train faculty and administrative staff on the use of technological tools and specific software.
  2. Advise on new technologies and strategies to enhance teaching and administrative processes.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in an educational setting.

Technical Knowledge

  • Experience in network administration, Windows and MacOS operating systems, and school management tools.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity and data protection protocols.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and educational software.

Skills

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and under pressure.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in both English and Spanish.

Preferred Certifications (Not Mandatory)

  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+.
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals or equivalent.
  • Certification in Google Workspace or Microsoft Office 365.
