Job Description

We are seeking a Manager of Finance - Analytics to oversee financial analytics and ensure accurate reporting for our client in Indianapolis. The ideal candidate will analyze large datasets, interpret trends, and translate financial data into actionable insights to drive business decisions. The Manager of Finance - Analytics will also lead and develop a team of two analysts. This role requires strong technical expertise with SQL and the ability to mentor a team while ensuring the integrity of financial reporting. The role is remote but may require occasional in-office presence for planning, onboarding, or team meetings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports, summarizing the company’s financial standing and projections.
  • Translate financial data into strategic insights that drive business decisions.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and year-end financial statements in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Read, understand and write basic to advanced SQL queries to pull data.
  • Analyze financial data, including trends, costs, revenues, expenses, and budget variances.
  • Work with large datasets to develop, run, and interpret reports and develop clear narratives around financial data to identify trends and cost drivers.
  • Develop clear narratives around financial data to explain trends and changes to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate with stakeholders to develop action plans to address variances. Support the development and preparation of the annual operational budget and assist in cash management activities.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the financial analytics team, ensuring technical proficiency and professional growth and establish a strong foundation in SQL.
  • Ensure compliance with state reporting requirements and provide support during financial audits conducted by regulatory bodies and independent auditors.
  • Monitor state payments and generate detailed internal reports and analyses.

Required Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years of experience in a complex finance or accounting role.
  • Three (3) years of experience in a supervisory role preferred, leading and developing a team.
  • Strong technical skills, with SQL experience (ability to read, understand, and write queries to extract and analyze data) and strong understanding of variance analysis is required.
  • Proven ability to develop, interpret and summarize large data sets, identify trends, and translate them into actionable insights.
  • Experience working in a turnaround environment or building projects from scratch is helpful.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Ability to take initiative, drive projects forward, and implement best practices in financial analytics.
