Position Description:

The Center for Disabilities and Development (CDD) is offering a one-year Pediatric Clinical Psychology Fellowship in the evaluation and diagnosis of neurodevelopmental disorders. The position is assessment-focused.  The Center for Disabilities and Development (CDD) provides a broad array of services to the community including developmental and behavioral pediatrics, nursing, speech-language pathology, occupational and physical therapy, psychology, social work, educational diagnostics, and audiology. The fellow will participate with interdisciplinary teams several times a week in addition to conducting individual assessments (to identify neurodevelopmental disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD; including use of ADOS-2). 



  • Prepares for individual patient/family contact.


  • Performs psychological/neuropsychological assessment and/or treatment with infants, children, and young adults in a tertiary-level, clinical outpatient setting.


  • Diagnose and treat neurodevelopmental disabilities, including autism, with other members of an inter-disciplinary health-care team.


  • Completes patient report and billing documentation according to CDD and UI Healthcare guidelines and timelines.


  • Provides learning experiences and/or instruction to graduate and doctoral-level trainees, as assigned.

Education Requirement:



  • A Doctoral degree in Psychology is required.

Required Qualifications:



  • Experience in Clinical Child Psychology and Clinical Psychotherapy, including training in psychological/neuropsychological assessment with pediatric populations with neurodevelopmental disabilities.


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable Qualifications:



  • Training in assessment and/or treatment of possible Autism Spectrum Disorder; using such materials as the ADOS-2, ADI-R, and/or other tools.


  • Training in assessment and/or treatment of neurodevelopmental disabilities for children between ages 0-5 years. Experience using materials such as the Bayley Scales of Infant Development or Mullen Scales of Learning.


  • Experience training/working in a healthcare environment and as a member of an interdisciplinary team.


  • Experience working with electronic medical records.
