Minnie Hamilton Health Care System is seeking a certified Physical Therapist Assistant for its busy Grantsville location. The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) provide direct patient care by offering appropriate treatments according to age and condition. As a PTA, you will actively seek to improve knowledge and skills of self and others, provide appropriate leadership, and meet clinical productivity standards and competency requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

• Graduation with Associate Degree as Physical Therapist Assistant from an APTA accredited school or higher.
• Current licensure or eligible for licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of West Virginia.
• Preferred: Prior Physical Therapist Assistant experience in hospital.
• Obtain or maintain CPR certification.
• Must successfully complete 90-day orientation as a physical therapist assistant.

Skills Required:

• Ability to communicate effectively with physical therapist
• Ability to function effectively in multi-faceted systems and to interact effectively with all levels of staff and patients.
• Demonstrated ability to utilize independent and effective clinical judgment, problem-solving and decision making skills.
• Utilizes effective time management skills.

Responsibilities:

• Assist physical therapist in providing patient care and rehabilitation services.
• Communicate effectively with physical therapist to ensure patient progress is tracked and documented.
• Provide patient education on rehabilitation exercises and techniques to ensure proper recovery and prevention of future injuries.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations and adheres to upholding patient's rights.
• Provide delivery of rehabilitation services and care in outpatient clinic under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
• Provide a clean, safe, calm, quiet, and comfortable environment for patient care.

Environmental Demands: Work is performed in the Physical Therapy department. Occasional exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, anti-neoplastic pharmaceuticals and other materials and substances that may be used in patient care.

Essential Physical Demands:

• Frequency physical effort with medium to heavy objects. Transferring patients weighing between 100 to 250 pounds is frequently required.
• Standing and walking for significant amounts of time is necessary.
• Good hearing and verbal skills required for directing staff, customer relations, and marketing activities.
• Manual dexterity required for documentation needs, for manipulation of equipment and for direct patient care.
• Good visual skills required for patient/resident assessment, documentation, and report analysis.

Essential Mental Demands:

• Requires intense attention and concentration.
• Ability to cope with periodic stress associated with changing census and staffing demands.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage time efficiently for self and others.
• Ability to deal with a wide range of personality types, ages, and diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Ability to articulate and comprehend the English language.
• Use of computer technology for documentation in an efficiency manner.
