Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The purpose of this position is to provide Public Works operations and code enforcement duties to include maintenance and operations of streets and traffic, solid waste, landscaping and mowing, ROW maintenance, and planning, and code enforcement within the City of Piney Point.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
-Assist with the City's Public Works day-to-day operations including street and traffic control, public signs and street signs, drainage and stormwater mitigation, fleet management, building maintenance and equipment storage, park amenities, and trails.
-Assist with contract administration of various outsourced services such as solid waste, landscaping, mowing, arborist, janitorial maintenance, traffic management, and City Engineering services.
-Collaborate with internal and external agencies related to City infrastructure and coordination of infrastructure projects.
-Responsible for the City's Code Enforcement by inspecting single-family properties, including conducting on-site visits, checking for violations, issuing notice letters, and verifying abatement are some of the key responsibilities of this job. The role also involves conducting proactive inspections and responding to complaints related to residential areas to ensure compliance with all applicable City zoning codes, sign codes, nuisance abatement, housing codes, dangerous building abatement, and other relevant issues.
-Attends municipal court hearings as needed.
-Assists in preparation of the annual operating budget related to Public Works.
-Acts as the liaison for the City's Beautification Committee.
-Assists as needed to the City Administrator and City Engineer.
-Assists the City Administrator with Emergency Management related activities.
-Attend City Council meetings as needed.
-Prepares a variety of studies, reports, and related information for decision-making purposes.
-Performs other duties as assigned.
-The City reserves the right to require an employee in this position to work outside of normal working hours including during emergencies (defined as any natural or man-made disaster that may or may not necessitate the relocation of City personnel or citizens). In the event of an emergency and/or a required evacuation, the incumbent may be required to remain at work to provide needed services or perform essential duties for the benefit of the general public including services or duties different from those performed in the normal course and scope of the position.
