KCHC/Pillar Health is seeking a Quality Improvement Registered Nurse. Position Summary The Quality Improvement Registered Nurse (QI RN) plays a vital role in advancing patient care quality and patient safety across the clinics. This position is responsible for systematically monitoring clinical outcomes, identifying opportunities for improvement, and leading initiatives that drive excellence in healthcare delivery. The QI RN partners with clinical and administrative teams to uphold high standards of care, regulatory compliance, and patient safety through evidence-based practices and continuous quality improvement (CQI) efforts. In addition to infection prevention, risk management, and after-hours care management oversight, the QI RN also oversees the triage process and referral tracking systems to ensure appropriateness, timeliness, and alignment with organizational protocols.

Quality Improvement & Assurance - Lead, develop, implement, and evaluate quality assurance (QA) and continuous improvement (CQI) initiatives.
- Review and analyze patient records and outcomes to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
- Facilitate and support the peer review process through documentation, tracking, and process improvement.
- Promote adoption of evidence-based clinical guidelines to standardize and elevate care delivery.
- Coordinate and support internal audits and prepare for regulatory and accreditation reviews.
- Monitor clinical processes and implement performance improvement projects in collaboration with service line leaders.
Compliance & Risk Management - Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements (e.g., HRSA, OSHA, FTCA, The Joint Commission, NCQA).
- Work with clinical and operational leaders to lead, develop, educate, implement and manage key system processes that impact patient safety and minimize organizational risk.
- Participate in risk management activities, including analysis of adverse events, root cause analysis, and enforcement of corrective measures.
- Lead infection control efforts, including program development, training, and compliance monitoring.
Care Management & Patient Flow - Oversee after-hours care management services to ensure timely, clinically appropriate, and well-documented support.
- Provide oversight of the clinical triage process, ensuring consistent application of protocols and appropriate clinical decision-making.
- Evaluate triage workflows to ensure timely response to patient needs and optimize patient safety and care continuity.
- Monitor referral tracking systems to ensure follow-up, completion, and documentation of referrals.
- Ensure that referral processes support quality standards and are compliant with organizational policies and payer requirements.
- Collaborate with care teams and leadership to improve workflows related to patient access, care coordination, and service delivery.
Training & Communication - Facilitate staff training and education on clinical protocols, quality initiatives, and evidence-based practices.
- Communicate quality findings, trends, and recommendations to staff and leadership through written reports, dashboards, and presentations.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous learning throughout the organization.
Postion Requirements Education/Experience - Associate or bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN preferred)
- Current Wisconsin Registered Nurse License
- Minimum five (5) years clinical experience required; experience in quality improvement, risk management, or compliance preferred
- Certification in Quality, Risk Management, or Infection Control (e.g., CPHQ, CIC) preferred.
- Certification in Infection prevention and control preferred
- In-depth knowledge of QA/QI processes and healthcare regulatory requirements.
- Ability to interpret clinical data for performance improvement.
- Familiarity with FTCA compliance and clinical risk management practices.
Work Conditions - Primarily works in an office or clinical setting with regular interaction across service lines; occasional travel between locations may be required.
- Requires frequent walking, standing, sitting, and use of a computer for extended periods of time; ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Full-time schedule within clinic operating hours; occasional evenings or weekends may be necessary for training or program oversight.
- Must follow HIPAA, infection control, and safety protocols; may be exposed to typical healthcare-related environmental risks.
WORK SCHEDULE Generally, Monday - Friday within clinic operating hours; occasional evenings or weekends may be necessary.
