The Department of ISCI Laboratory Operations is currently seeking a full time Research Associate 3 to work in Miami. The Research Associate 3, SOM assumes responsibility for the design and performance of research focused on the development of novel experimental therapies for human malignancies. The incumbent contributes to collaborations with scientists within the University of Miami or elsewhere. Moreover, this individual works as part of a team and assists with the maintenance of laboratory equipment, protocols, and supplies.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Maintains daily operations and performs procedures related to new and on-going research projects.
Performs and assists other research staff with standard laboratory techniques.
Develops, adapts, and implements new laboratory procedures.
Records, organizes, and writes up experimental results for submission of manuscripts and for scientificpresentations.
Keeps abreast of latest literature in the field and searches for references to technical problems.
Maintains current knowledge of the methods and techniques related to the specific field of research.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
Order, organize and inventory supplies and equipment.
Maintain or arrange for maintenance of equipment.
Inventory of cell samples
Ordering and organizing basic lab necessities such as: - Serological pipettes - Cell culture plates - Flasks -Centrifuge tubes - Microtubes - Glass pipettes - Cryovials - Syringe filters - Cell strainer - Incubator filters - All-purpose sponges - Biohazard bags/boxes - Absorbent bench pads - Gloves - Media filter system - Clerical supplies-ethanol 2. Managing the Procurement Card 3. Pipette calibrations
Be involved in various clinical research protocols.
Maintain accurate records of procedures and experiments.
Prepare experimental materials using laboratory protocols and safety guidelines.
Assist with analysis of experiments.
Must have experience in Flow Cytometry and Flow software.
Experience in several ELISA protocols.
Must be experienced in Ficol Plaque Blood separation.
Must have basic knowledge of immune surface markers for cell characterization.

Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field required
