Role: Senior Data Center Engineer
Location: Dallas, TX
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated
Sr. Data Center Engineer to support and maintain the core infrastructure of our data center operations. This role primarily focuses on managing physical and virtual servers, enterprise storage systems, and virtualization platforms, with secondary responsibilities involving basic network support and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about high-availability environments.
Key Responsibilities: - Deploy, configure, monitor, and maintain physical and virtual servers (Windows/Linux).
- Administer virtualization environments (e.g., VMware vSphere/ESXi, Hyper-V).
- Manage and support enterprise storage solutions (SAN/NAS), including provisioning, replication, and backups.
- Perform system upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement infrastructure projects and ensure system reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, OS, and virtualization issues in a timely manner.
- Maintain server racks, cable management, and ensure best practices in physical infrastructure.
- Provide basic network troubleshooting for switches, patch panels, and network interfaces.
- Ensure all systems adhere to security policies, backup strategies, and disaster recovery plans.
- Document procedures, system configurations, and infrastructure changes.
Requirements: - Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in a data center or IT infrastructure environment.
- Strong experience with server hardware (Dell, HPE, etc.) and virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V).
- Proficiency with enterprise storage technologies
- Working knowledge of data center operations including racking, cabling, and environmental monitoring.
- Familiarity with networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, subnets) and basic troubleshooting.
- Experience with monitoring tools and remote management platforms (e.g., iLO, DRAC).
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to lift and install equipment in server racks (up to 50 lbs).
- Travel up to 60%
Preferred Qualifications: - Certifications: VMware VCP, CompTIA Server+, Microsoft MCP, or equivalent.
- Scripting experience (PowerShell, Python, or Bash) for automation tasks.
- Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery solutions (e.g., Veeam, Commvault).
- Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) is a plus.
- Experience with hyperconverged infrastructure solutions such as Nutanix is a strong plus.
Annual Salary Range is depending on experience. The compensation range reflects the Company’s reasonable expectations at the time of posting.
