The Solution Architect will provide architectural leadership and guidance for critical IT projects within the Government of Manitoba's Digital and Technology Solutions team. This role requires collaboration with project teams, technical staff, and procurement stakeholders throughout the entire solution lifecycle, ensuring designs meet both business and technical standards. The successful candidate will lead the development and implementation of complex IT systems and integration architectures, leveraging experience with various architectural frameworks and cloud solutions.

Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of solution architectures meeting technical and business requirements.
- Evaluate, select, and recommend technologies and architectural patterns.
- Provide technical leadership across project phases (planning, procurement, implementation, and operation).
- Prepare and review high-level and detailed technical estimates.
- Analyze, document, and validate technical, security, and non-functional requirements.
- Lead or coordinate cross-functional technical teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Contribute to RFP/RFQ processes by providing architectural inputs and specifications.
- Ensure alignment with industry best practices, Manitoba government standards, and enterprise architecture principles.
- Conduct risk and impact assessments and provide recommendations.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- 8+ years of experience as a Solution Architect in enterprise IT environments.
- Proven ability to design and implement complex IT systems and integration architectures.
- Strong experience with enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman).
- Deep understanding of security, performance, scalability, and availability in solution design.
- Experience leading technical teams and collaborating with business stakeholders.
- Familiarity with cloud (Azure, AWS), hybrid, and on-prem solutions.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Previous experience working with Canadian provincial governments.
- Certifications in architecture or cloud technologies (e.g., TOGAF, AWS Architect, Azure Solutions Architect).
- Familiarity with Agile and DevOps environments.
- Experience contributing to government procurement processes (e.g., SOWs, RFPs, RFIs).
