Overview Dance Place is hiring a Creative Arts Program Assistant in Washington, DC. This part-time, non-exempt position supports the Education department by developing, implementing, and evaluating curriculum for Creative Arts Programs, and assisting with Creative Arts Summer Camp activities during the summer season. The regular schedule is 20.0 hours per week; during the summer, 37.5 hours per week. Salary: $20-$22/hour. This is a hybrid opportunity. POSITION OVERVIEW

The Creative Arts Program Assistant supports the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum for the Creative Arts Programs. This role assists with fostering educational partnerships and supporting Creative Arts Summer Camp activities during the summer season. It is a part-time role within the Education department’s After-School and Teen Leadership programs. Responsibilities Creative Arts After-School and Teen Leadership Programs: develop and execute daily lesson plans aligned with the established curriculum; evaluate program effectiveness using designated assessment tools; maintain meticulous records of program data for reporting; coordinate data and reports with other Dance Place departments. Creative Arts Summer Camp Assistance: collaborate with the Education Director to execute daily/weekly tasks (lunch distribution, attendance, field trips, performance preparation, family communication); oversee Summer Camp staff and teaching artists; assist in managing the program budget. Meetings and Professional Development: attend weekly staff meetings and bi-weekly Education Department Meetings; participate in all required Education Department training and professional development opportunities. Financial Management: organize and oversee monthly tuition payments, including billing and payment tracking; ensure accurate recording of payments and direct them to the Finance & Operations Manager; monitor and manage scholarship programs in collaboration with the Creative Arts Program Manager. Collaboration and Space Management: collaborate with the Creative Arts Program Manager to identify areas of program overlap and synergy; maintain cleanliness and upkeep of the Creative Education Center (CEC) and Teen Leadership space (101), overseeing maintenance as necessary. Qualifications Education: High school diploma is required. Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years of relevant experience coordinating youth-focused programs in educational, nonprofit, or arts-based settings. Other Necessary Skills and Abilities: demonstrated commitment to accessible arts education programming; exceptional project management skills to keep programming on schedule and within budget; strong self-motivation, strategic thinking, and ability to work independently; strong collaboration skills to work across departments. Computer/Technology Skills: Proficient with Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Gmail), Microsoft Office products, or similar web applications for day-to-day tasks. Physical Demands: ability to sit/stand for prolonged times, walk moderate distances, frequently lift/carry up to 25 lbs, occasionally stoop/bend/kneel/crouch, frequent verbal communication, screen viewing, and repetitive typing. Desirable Skills (not required) An appreciation for the art of dance. Work Environment Dance Place staff are diverse, small, collaborative, and engaging.
