Job Description

Providence Staffing is seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Technician to assist with various maintenance and repair tasks within the Brevard County school system. The Maintenance Technician will work under the supervision of experienced craftspeople and perform skilled tasks in various trades, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, the ability to follow directions, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and functional environment. This is a temp-to-perm position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform skilled maintenance and repair tasks across various trades, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance.
  • Operate and maintain small power tools and equipment, such as saws, drills, chain saws, nail guns, power push mowers, and string trimmers.
  • Follow oral and written instructions to complete assigned tasks efficiently and accurately.
  • Perform routine inspections and minor repairs to ensure the proper functioning of tools, equipment, and facilities.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and equipment are stored properly.
  • Safely transport tools, materials, and equipment to and from work sites as needed.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a secure working environment.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding task progress and any issues encountered.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repairs for minor mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Assist in the installation, replacement, and repair of building systems and equipment.
  • Provide assistance in the maintenance of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, plumbing systems, and electrical systems.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance tasks to ensure the longevity of equipment and systems.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the use, care, and maintenance of tools and equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Basic knowledge of maintenance and repair practices in various trades.
  • Competence in operating power tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently when required.
  • Previous experience in a maintenance or repair role is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Medium Work: Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Capable of standing, walking, bending, lifting, and performing physical tasks for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and environments, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Ability to handle and operate power tools, machinery, and perform tasks that require manual dexterity.

Work Environment:

  • This role involves working both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Exposure to power tools, machinery, and potential hazards is required.
  • The work environment may include school facilities, maintenance shops, and construction sites.

Compensation:

The compensation for this position is $15.25 per hour.
