As a Motion Designer at Roblox, you will play a pivotal role in crafting our brand and product experience through motion. You will craft compelling motion assets for marketing campaigns, brand storytelling, and in-product design systems, ensuring consistency and innovation across all surfaces. This role requires a strong mix of visual storytelling, motion design expertise, and systems thinking—bringing movement to life across both customer-facing experiences and internal frameworks.
You Will - Develop and implement motion design solutions for both marketing initiatives (brand videos, social assets, product trailers) and product design (UI animations, microinteractions, and system-level motion patterns).
- Contribute to our motion design system by defining guidelines and standard methodologies for crafting reusable components that improve product experiences at scale.
- Craft outstanding motion graphics and animations in 2D and/or 3D, with tools like After Effects, Figma, and Cinema 4D.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, product design, brand, and engineering teams to ensure flawless integration of motion across all touchpoints.
- Bring stories to life by crafting visually engaging content that aligns with our brand identity and product vision.
- Operate within established frameworks, while also pushing creative boundaries when opportunities arise.
- Balance efficiency with craft, producing polished work on deadline while maintaining a high standard of quality.
You Have - 5+ years of professional experience in motion design, or video post-production for commercial and corporate content.
- A strong portfolio showcasing both marketing motion graphics and product UI motion work.
- Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Premiere, Illustrator, Photoshop), with a strong grasp of animation principles and visual storytelling.
- Experience with design tools like Figma and an understanding of motion in the context of digital products.
- Knowledge of 3D motion tools (Cinema 4D, Blender, Maya) is a plus.
- A deep understanding of design principles, including typography, layout, and composition.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to present and advocate for motion concepts to various stakeholders.
For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.
Annual Salary Range
$114,190—$143,840 USD
Roles that are based in our San Mateo, CA Headquarters are in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional in-office on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
