Overview

We are seeking a full-time Web Product Designer in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for contributing to the user experience and interface design for Garmin’s digital ecosystem - including mobile and web. In this role, you will own the design and execution, ensuring all designs are cohesive, global, ADA compliant, scalable, optimized, and consistently aligned with Garmin’s brand identity and Web Design System while collaborating with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders to deliver innovative user-centric design solutions.

Essential Functions

  • Contribute to the design process and deliver user experience and interface design for Garmin’s digital properties - including mobile and web
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, user flows, guidelines, and high-fidelity visual designs using tools such as Figma
  • Support effective planning and timely completion of goals and objectives for assigned projects
  • Apply and help maintain user-centered design patterns and guidelines for the global design system, ensuring consistency across Garmin’s multiple digital products and platforms
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, design leadership, marketing, IT, developers, global teams, and stakeholders to ensure designs are feasible and scalable
  • Work with product management and business stakeholders to understand business goals and customer needs, and contribute to design solutions that support key products and business metrics
  • Present and communicate design concepts, rationale, and solutions to multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders
  • Review and refine specifications, and document clear, scalable global solutions and components for the Web Design System
  • Stay current on user interface design trends and new technologies
  • Focus on creating seamless, user-centered digital experiences by integrating design, functionality, and usability across websites and web applications
  • Participate in design review and provide feedback to peers
  • Exemplify Garmin’s Mission Statement and Quality Policy and proactively work to improve Garmin’s image and culture

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in User Experience Design, Interactive Design, Human Factors, Visual Design, or a degree with an equivalent curriculum that teaches user centered design principles AND a minimum of 1 year relevant work experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
  • Proficiency and exceptional skills in creating research, flows and prototypes using tools such as Figma
  • Knowledge of ADA best practices
  • Highly detail-oriented to document and vet technical specs for web components and ensure consistency across all web products and platforms
  • Knowledge of design thinking, usability principles, and documentation of design specifications for development teams
  • Experience contributing to design direction for multiple projects, and ensuring effective project planning leads to timely completion of project goals/objectives
  • Strong collaborative skills, team player and openness to constructive feedback `
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • A portfolio demonstrating end-to-end user-centered design solutions
